Grant E. Pickering
President and Chief Executive Officer
In the first quarter of 2008, Mr. Pickering was appointed President and CEO, and also elected to the Company's Board of Directors. Prior to joining Juvaris, Mr. Pickering founded Pharmada, Inc. with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and served as its President and Chief Executive Officer. This biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of small-molecule therapeutics for the treatment of cancer. From 2000 through 2005, Mr. Pickering was employed by Dendreon Corporation where he served as a Corporate Officer and as its Senior Vice President of Operations. During his tenure at Dendreon, he led clinical development, manufacturing, sales, marketing, business development, project management, while playing a major role in fundraising activities, including the company's initial public offering. Before Dendreon, he held senior management roles in marketing and business development with Algos Pharmaceutical Corporation prior to participating in its sale to Endo Pharmaceuticals. Prior to Algos, Mr. Pickering was in sales- and marketing-related roles with Glaxo and Johnson & Johnson's Ortho Pharmaceutical Corporation. Mr. Pickering earned his B.S. degree in marketing from The Pennsylvania State University and was Beta Gamma Sigma at Georgetown University's MBA program graduating magna cum laude.

Thomas P. Monath, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer (Acting)
Dr. Monath is a Partner, Pandemic and Biodefense Fund, at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. He is also Adjunct Professor, Harvard School of Public Health. Between 1992 and 2006, Dr. Monath was Chief Scientific Officer and an Executive Director, Acambis, plc, where he directed R&D on dengue, West Nile, Japanese encephalitis, yellow fever, Clostridium difficile, and smallpox vaccines for defense against bioterrorism. Dr. Monath retired from the US Army as a Colonel in 1992 after 24 years in the uniformed services. Between 1973 and 1988, he was Director, Division of Vector-Borne Viral Diseases, Centers for Disease Control, Fort Collins, CO and from 1989 to 1992 Chief, Virology Division, US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID). He has served on numerous government and international committees on infectious diseases, biosecurity, World Health Organization expert committees and the National Vaccines Advisory Committee (USA). Dr. Monath earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and M.D. from Harvard Medical School, and trained in internal medicine at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Boston. He is also Adjunct Professor, Harvard School of Public Health and serves on the editorial board of five scientific journals.

Kimberlee Gonzaga, CPA
Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Gonzaga brings over 15 years of financial management experience in public accounting, the medical device industry and most recently in biotech, across both established and early-stage companies. Prior to joining Juvaris, she was with Thoratec Corporation where she held several financial management positions before being named Sr. Strategic Finance Manager. Ms. Gonzaga was responsible for all aspects of consolidated budgeting and planning for multiple divisions, quarterly investor relations for all financial press releases including analyst's reviews, and worked extensively with business development in all aspects of mergers and acquisitions and other material agreements. Prior to Thoratec Corporation, Ms. Gonzaga held progressive positions with Stryker Corporation, Smith & Nephew, Inc. and with Oratec Interventions, Inc. At Oratec, she was a key contributor in the company's initial public offering, the acquisition of a small company and later the company's acquisition by Smith & Nephew. A licensed Certified Public Accountant, Ms. Gonzaga earned her B.S. degree, with a double major in accounting and economics/finance from Notre Dame de Namur University.

Lee B. Bussey, Ph.D.
Sr. Vice President, Manufacturing
Dr. Bussey, with over 20 years experience, is recognized as a leader in clinical process development and manufacturing. He is a skilled team builder and has led multiple national/international teams ensuring successful technology transfers and production runs at Contract Manufacturing Organizations. From 1994 to 2006, Dr. Bussey served as Vice President of Bioprocessing for Valentis, Inc. While at Valentis, his team developed patented technologies for both plasmid DNA purification and formulation, both being critical for Juvaris' programs. Between 1990 and 1994, Dr. Bussey worked for Pel-Freez Biologicals producing nucleic acid-, viral- and protein-based products. He also served in academic positions at the University of Illinois and Georgia State University. Dr. Bussey earned his B.S. degree in biological sciences with honors, and later his Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of California, Davis.

Jeff Fairman, Ph.D., Co-Founder
Vice President, Research
Dr. Fairman co-founded Juvaris in 2003 and has over 15 years experience as a program manager and scientist, much of that time dedicated to the development of cationic lipsome-DNA complexes. From 1999 to 2002, Dr. Fairman was the Director of Pharmacogenomics Research at Clingenix Inc., where he directed research in the application of pharmacogenomics to clinical development. From 1997 to 1999, Dr. Fairman was at Megabios Corporation where he managed the assay development group and conducted preclinical efficacy and toxicity studies. In 1996, Dr. Fairman began his industrial experience with AmCell Corporation. After receiving his Ph.D. in 1992, Dr. Fairman conducted his postdoctoral training at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center specializing in the genetics of leukemia. Dr. Fairman earned his B.S. degree in chemistry at Northwest Missouri State University and his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Arkansas.
